This website covers the issues of homelessness in Derby. Myself and some friends are currently working with the homeless and discovered there is a severe shortage of activities during the day for the homeless, we want to change that. We also want to change peoples perceptions of the homeless population, How are we going to do that? By giving them the opportunity and resources to help themselves, with ongoing support, encouragement and by running local projects that involve the local community.

This is the first major project started by the Roundabouts Group.

We have started an allotment project which is close the Derby Night Shelter. It has been running for 16 months now and it is a great success so far. We have already planted and harvested radishes, potatoes, courgettes, broad beans and supplied the Night Shelter with them, and there is plenty more to harvest in the coming months. See produce page or clink link below, to see whats been planted and harvested so far. Beacuse we are very early in our conception, we have been relying on donations, i.e tools, a shed, clothing, pots, etc. We have just secured some funding from BT Community Champions, a cheque for £225 has now been recieved and will be used to purchase, some extra tools, some more clothing some well earned tea making facilities!! See the photos of the cheque on the news page!

Roundabouts have many other projects in the pipeline, such as a football team, music events and coffee mornings.

We also have plans to supply organic produce to a local Organic Wholefood Shop in the heart of Derby City Centre. Soundbites is an Organic Wholefood Shop, Cafe and information point. We have been donating some of our vegetables to soundbites and people have donated towards them, so hopefully in the near future we can supply them on a regular basis. See Link below for their excellent website. Soundbites had a collection box in store for streetsthift, which raised over sixty pounds. Many thanks to them and their customers.
